To me, people and pets share a lot in common. All animals experience awareness, joy, sadness, and anxiety. When I'm with pets, my intention is to be compassionate and attentive. I like being with animals because they offer me a reminder to be more present and curious. My family has raised cats and dogs. Since I was 19, I've offered petsitting & housesitting with cats, dogs, and miniature donkeys. I notice animal's body language as communication. My studies in linguistics (language) helps me identify non-verbal communication, like body posture, vocal intonation, and eye gaze. For dogs/cats with trauma, separation anxiety, or aggression -- I balance my energy to create comfort & safety. As an educator, I enjoy creating a calm space for relaxation and fun.
