I have been babysitting for about a decade now. Last year I started my transition from my part-time/ as needed babysitting to nannying. I have 1 year of experience being a full time nanny with my past family where I would watch one 3-year-old boy and watch over their dog as well. Together we did a lot of parallel play, practicing color recognition, reading books, going on walks, and crafting together. In that position I used gentle parenting, which is what I am most comfortable with. I like to communicate with parents frequently to make sure my care style is meeting the expectations that they have for me. As an older cousin with about 7 young cousins, I've spent almost half of my life having babies and children be very present, and part of the reason I'm moving to Lansing is so I can be closer to them and be able to give them more care! I have been watching my cousins since they were in diapers, which has led me to have TONS of experience with babies, toddlers, and young kids.
