During a thirteen-week travel nurse assignment, Addison, a hired babysitter, agreed to care for our four children on Monday and Tuesday mornings until my husband’s return from Dallas on a red-eye flight on Tuesday. However, on Monday night at 8 pm, Addison informed me that she was unable to attend on Tuesday due to an important soccer game that she could not miss. While my children enjoyed her company because she is also a child, I must express my concerns about her reliability as a babysitter. As a working adult, I require a dependable caregiver, and Addison’s inability to fulfill her commitment on Tuesday was unacceptable. Despite the inconvenience, we compensated Addison with daily cash, purchased lunch for her and the children, and ensured that our hotel accommodations provided free breakfast, an indoor pool, and daily housekeeping.
