About Abigail

I am a Vanderbilt University junior studying Neuroscience and Medicine, Health & Society on the Pre-Med track. Long term, I would like to be a neurologist working with Alzheimer's and dementia patients. I originally developed a passion for dementia patients through spending time with my grandfather who has Alzheimer's. Additionally, I am the President of Vanderbilt's Alzheimer Buddies chapter, where I work with a memory care facility in Nashville to partner students with "buddies" to spend time with and get to know each week. I have been volunteering through this organization for 2 years and have learned so much about assisting and communicating with loved ones with dementia. Visiting my buddy is always the highlight of my week. I love building a relationship with her, and I continue to learn more about her every time we meet. I would love a part time senior care job this summer to continue to build relationships and an understanding that will make me a better doctor some day.
