About who needs care: My mother had a major stroke 5 years ago and several small ones since. She has right side residual problems from the stroke. Unable to stand or use her right hand from the stroke. She also has some memory issues from the stroke. Because of this she does require everything to be done for her. She is alert and can talk, but has a hard time getting out what she is trying to say. She loves to laugh and cut up.
She does require to be lifted in a lift and sat in her mobile chair or recliner. She also wears pull ups and will need to be changed.
She is a diabetic so monitoring her blood sugar is required, she does not take shots, just pills to maintain it. She loves coffee and scrolling through social media.
The care is only for 4 hours a day, so not much to due other than giving dinner and making sure she is dry and OK.
I care for her during the day, but need a break in the evenings from 5pm-9 p.m. so I am able to spend the evening with my family and kids.
I love my Mom and care for her because I am very skeptical of leaving her in a nursing home. So the person who comes in will be required to have a background check and interview to question their love for their job and the will have toward my Mom.
