Part-Time/Full-Time Caregiver Available
I get great satisfaction out of helping senior citizens. My career was ownership and management of two businesses, and later in outside sales and management. After I retired, I was approached regarding home care for an elderly couple who was living alone. I accepted the job, moved into their home, and took care of them for the next five years. I was with them until they both passed away.
During those years, the man's condition, Dementia and macular degeneration, worsened. He also became incontinent. The woman was a diabetic, and had congestive heart failure. After I started caring for them, the woman had a stroke which affected her speech. I administered their medication, insulin, prepared meals, bathed, dressed, and groomed them. I shopped for groceries, ordered and picked up medications, and did light house cleaning. I assisted with activities, light exercising, reading, and walking. I drove them to their doctor appointments, hair salon, and to the hospital when necessary. They were 89 and 91 when they passed away. They were beautiful people and I fell in love with them. I feel good knowing I made their last years more pleasant for them. Since then, I have cared for clients with cancer, broken hip, etc. I have applied and removed catheters, have assisted with nebulizers, and C-PAP treatments. I have managed and assisted with most everything that a home care CNA is trained for.
