Oakwood Creative Care Day Clubs (licensed adult day health services) offers research-based, cutting edge, person-directed care model focusing on strengths, interests, and wellness. Open Monday-Friday 7:00a.m.-5:30 p.m. OCC's Day Clubs is a nonprofit solution and alternative to costly in home care and facilities. Oakwood believes that every member deserves the opportunity to engage in meaningful activities and remain apart of the community.
Research indicates even though the brain is deteriorating in certain areas and causing impairments in thinking, memory, and judgment, individuals with dementia can visually communicate through the creative center of the brain even when they are no longer verbal.
Our goal is to see beyond a persons diagnosis and provide programs to assist in increasing or maintain cognitive, social, and/or physical abilities through focusing on the three pillars of our mission utilizing programs focused on the mind, body, and spirit:
Music, Art, Horticultural, Pet Therapy: Therapists provide daily group and individual sessions. These classes are provided through two full time therapists, volunteers, and one paid consultant.
Cognitive Education for Advanced Brain Health: an innovative history-oriented weekly class aims to expand conversations and critical thinking. This class is performed by a paid consultant with the goal to expand the number of sessions utilizing an Oakwood staff member.
Creative Aging: This program in partnership with the Mesa Arts Center encourages members to express themselves through art, movement, and dance while enhancing self-esteem, morale, and overall health.
Wellness Classes: Held twice daily in the areas of Tai Chi, Yoga, and Zumba, modified movements focus on breath, relaxation, and balance. Health benefits include reducing falls by increasing balance and awareness.
Rates
Full-Time: $80 per day (more than 4 hours)
Part-Time: $50 per day (4 hours or less)
Rates include: lunch, snacks, therapy sessions, meaningful activities, nursing and wellness care, and care partner support. ... show more
