About who needs care: Dad is diabetic and he needs to take insulin shots and test his blood sugar throughout the day. He needs help dressing and help getting around where he needs to go. My Mother is also the same age but much more independent however she just hurt her back and cant help Dad the way she was any longer. They will need help with general light housekeeping tasks. They usually get up around 7:30 to 8 a.m. and are in bed by eight or nine to watch television. They may need assistance running errands (picking up meds, transportation to doctors office, picking up groceries). Whoever comes needs to be friendly with their dog and able to get along with the grumpy old man set in his ways. They are both very active for their age and like to stay busy. Dad likes to groom his yard (daily) running the mower and tractor around the field. Mom just likes to walk her dog and be outside when the weather is nice. About the care needs: A good fit would be someone who is not easily offended. Dad has no filter and was a sailer. The person needs to be honest and drug free and a non-smoker. A CNA would be good given the insulin shots and taking blood sugar tests. Dad is able to do these things himself but I would like someone there that knows what to do in case his levels are too high or too low. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
