About who needs care: Parent is in relatively good shape, ambulatory with some use of a walker. She will require help with laundry, cooking light meals, assistance with hygiene, (i, e, showering) and encouragement to work on strengthening exercises assigned by PT.
About the care needs: Probably, the ideal individual has some understanding of the aged. Geriatric experience may be valuable in order to be patient and encouraging when parent is confused.
Parent enjoys talking on the phone, visiting with her adult children and grandchildren, neighbors and old friends (though very few remain). She was a sharp bridge player and frequently won games in the local community.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
