About who needs care: Mom is experiencing cognitive decline, so we are concerned that while she is able to feed, bathe, and generally take care of herself, she does not always remember to do so. We would like someone to come in for half a day and make sure she maintains her daily routine and provide some companionship and daily walks, weather permitting.
She has some physical limitations but goes to one exercise class and one personal training session every week.
She enjoys gardening and cooking, but she does much less of this than she used to. She is an avid reader and gets books from the library regularly. She watched the Nats games every night but mostly she enjoys people. She has lived in Arlington for 65 years and has made many friends.
About the care needs: We are looking for someone who is friendly, patient, observant, consistent, kind, and interested in learning from a person with a wealth of life experienced, They will have to occasionally lend a hand or arm to steady Mom as she walks, especially up and down stairs. She does not like to be called Honey, Sweetie, or anything other than Mimi, or for some special people,
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
