About who needs care: She has Alzheimer's, is incontinent, and must be lifted from bed to wheelchair and from wheelchair to recliner. She weighs 100-120 pounds. She is awakened, bathed and dressed, and brought to the table for breakfast by 11:00 a.m. She is moved to a recliner after breakfast where she spends the day very quietly. She is checked throughout the day and changed as needed. She is then moved to the table for dinner at 4:45.
About the care needs: My mom responds best to a gentle, quiet and patient personality. Because of her disease, she is often sweet and friendly, and sometimes she can be contrary. She needs a caregiver who doesn't take offense on the days she is confused and irritable. She was easy for our previous caregiver to handle, and that caregiver had the personality I mentioned.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
