Full Time
About who needs care: My grandmother has been dx with dementia. It's early stages. She mainly just forgets things but she's not to the point that she's bedridden or not able to feed herself, ect. She just needs someone there when my father is a work for companionship, help her with things around the house, maybe have some meds given to her, maybe take her to the beauty shop. She's very sweet and loving. She watches TV alot and if she feels like it she may go outside and sit on her porch. She may need some assistance with walking just to make her feel more comfortable and make sure she doesn't fall. Sometimes her legs bother her so some days she may need assistance walking and others she may not. My father could give a better description of what she needs but I think I've covered the majority.
About the care needs: Someone that's sweet, loves elderly people, and has patience. Someone that understands dementia and doesn't try to correct her or complain about her repeating herself or asking the same questions. Someone that can motivate her to do more like getting fresh air outside, ect. With covid she sits at home and we want to keep her up in spirits. Someone that is willing to help her walk if needed even if it's to and from the bathroom and cook her food if needed. And someone that takes covid very seriously and if they come in contact with a positive covid or think that they may have it to call out for a few days or whatever sees fit. I'd rather them miss a few days and get tested than to take a chance on infecting my grandmother or even my father who is immunosuppressed.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
