About who needs care: Independent spirit, short term memory loss, needs help with personal care. My mother doesn't mind living alone, but she can no longer shower, cut her toenails, or manage things the way she did in the past. She gets up and reads the newspaper and has her breakfast, sits on her deck, naps, watches the TV, talks on the phone, does her laundry. But she is becoming weaker and more frail, though she is still very stubborn and wants to be in charge.
About the care needs: My mother is very stubborn, independent, and can be very blunt She is an interesting and intelligent person, but has increasing short term memory loss, so will repeat the same question, or forget something easily. She is very attached to her routines and how she has her house organized. So she needs a caregiver that isn't overly sensitive and can try to do things the way she would like, but who can be firm and positive. She needs her toenails kept clipped, and help with showering and washing her hair. She enjoys keeping up with news. She has gotten weaker and has trouble walking very fast so she doesn't like to go out much now. She would rather stay at home.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
