About who needs care: My mom has been in decline for the last year or so and struggles with walking due to neuropathy in her feet. This has caused her to be very weak and scared to do everyday tasks. She does fall, usually on the way to the bathroom or in the shower, which are the biggest reasons for concern. She had throat cancer 10 years ago which makes it difficult for her to eat due to scar tissue in the throat and taste buds changing due to chemo & radiation so she is vitamin deficiencies also causing her to be weak. We are wanting someone who can help her get ready in the mornings, have lunch with her and keep her company. Potentially help with her some things around the house (laundry and minimal cleaning) a few times a week so my dad is able to go to work and not be worried about falls on those days.
My mom doesn't have a lot of hobbies but hoping having someone around might be able to spark an interest. She did get into photography for a little so maybe something like that?
She usually wakes up and starts getting ready for the day between 7-9 a.m. and it takes her 2-3 hours because of how unstable her legs are early in the day. She does work with my dad but has been taking time off as her health has declined. The structure of her day and care needed is really making sure she showers and gets downstairs okay and just spending time having lunch with her.
