About who needs care: Dementia- year 4, fairly self sufficient at 93yo, walker used, needs help w hair washing, cutting up food, cooking, light housekeeping, reminder to take meds. Not TV person. Enjoys speaking of past in Cantonese. Limited English speaker. Prefers Chinese food.
Gets up no later than 9 a.m. breakfast immediately. Lunch at noon. Naps 1-3 p.m. Dinner after 5 p.m. Sleeps around 7 p.m. Up twice during night fir restroom breaks.
Ideally, caregiver would be attentive to her needs. Conversation good. Encouraging physical activity and good hygiene are important.
Hardest is coaching her to take showers.
About the care needs: Individual who has eldercare experience with ability to cater to the best interest of person being cared for. Able to manage dementia demands or will not be easily frustrated and burn out.
Specialized skills: Cantonese speaker preferred, patient, able to cook Chinese and softer foods preferred. Keen sitter with eye to safety and preventing falls.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
