About who needs care: Larry is diabetic and often has trouble controlling his numbers. An experience with diabetics and keeping blood sugars level would be a huge plus. He loves eating (makes the first point difficult!), watching TV, reading (being read to), and (when able) going for short walks. Ideally we'd have two full time (30 hours a week) splitting weekdays (one morning, one afternoon 6 hour shifts) and 2 part time weekend. We're open to a certain extent to adjusting these days and hours but Larry will need consistent in-home care for the foreseeable future.
About the care needs: Larry loves people! He loves to chat. He has done very well in the past with nearly all caregivers. Right now he is ambulatory and strongly desires to remain independent. A caregiver who would be able to help him off the ground when he falls is essential to this. He also is currently able to care for himself (bathing. etc.) but in the very near future may not be able to. Experience and willingness to help him with hygiene would also be helpful. Larry's hobbies that might be nice to share with a caregiver are: eating, cars, reading non-fiction, "hiking," and animals (bird watching, etc.).
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
