About who needs care: He is a Vietnam vet partially paralyzed in action. He is now 77 and is now wheelchair bound. Still mentally alert with a positive sense of humor.
Last year he had to go to a G-tube for hydration but can still eat blended food by mouth which he enjoys. He eats one or two meals a day. Likes to sit outside for short periods when weather allows. He has a hoyerlift o get in and out of bed and a lift recliner where he spends his waking hours.
The G-tube caused him to need to move in San Bernardino where he lived for 20 years. We hope he can move to a 1 bedroom apt. if we can find him in home care by the 1st of the year with shared shifts or a live in possibility with a 2 bdrm .
My family has cared for him for years, my sister who lives near him has done a great job and takes him to all his health appts and takes care of he's finances and personal items. We will grocery shop,. He will need his food warmed and blended and will need light daily housekeeping attended to. He will need to be bathed and shaved. We are trying to make sure he does not outlive his resources but to keep him healthy and happy as possible. So far so good.
